Dwayne "King" Cassius Pride is an NCIS Supervisory Special Agent and special agent in charge of the New Orleans field office, making him the direct superior to all other agents in its ranks.
Pride works with Special Agent Christopher LaSalle in New Orleans. It was revealed that he saved LaSalle's life during Hurricane Katrina.
Leroy Jethro GibbsEdit
Pride and Gibbs have a long and close friendship extending over thirty years. The close nature of their friendship is evident based upon their use of the phrase "Brother" or "My Brother", and the fact that they call each other "King" and "Jethro", something only those close to Gibbs do.
Abigail Sciuto and Donald MallardEdit
Pride is also close friends with Abigail Scutio and Donald Mallard, as is made clear when Gibbs upon learning that both Abby and Ducky have some new evidence for them that he will take Ducky and that Pride has Abby.
Unlike his close friend Gibbs, Dwayne is a laid-back, easy going individual who is friendly to everyone he meets. He has many friends in the New Orleans community, maintains close ties to his team and is considered beloved all over town. However, he and Gibbs do have the same dedication and gut instincts when it comes to solving cases. They also have a soft spot for kids, getting personally involved whenever there are cases involving children. They also share the same dislike for politics interfering with the job, but by Dwayne's own admission, Gibbs is able to handle the politics better than he can.
Dwayne has a passion and love for cooking; so much so, he has incorporated this into his interrogation methods. One of note, that LaSalle mentioned, was 'Chill and Spill', where Dwayne cooks a person of interest food to make them feel at ease and open up to him.
However, Dwayne isn't without his faults. He has a temper, which is best showed during the NCIS backdoor pilot episode when Dwayne throws a disrespectful lobbyist over a car for insulting his mentor. Unlike Gibbs, who is willing to bend the rules to solve the case, Dwayne has a habit of going outside the law to get the job done. None were more prominent than during his investigation into Mayor Hamilton and rescuing Loretta's adoptive son, Danny. While this has gotten him into trouble in the past, as long as the bad guy went down, he has no regrets over what he did.
- Dwayne Cassius Pride is loosely based on real life and retired NCIS Special Agent Dwayne Swear, who died on March 5, 2018.
